HISTORY
Clan Ross is associated with the Applecross area and was named by King Malcom in 1160. Between 1214-1249 Alexander II of Scotland began to control the people of Ross-shire and Moray with the chief Fearchar gaining a knighthood for his actions and in 1915 was awarded Earl of Ross. The Clan Ross fought at the Battle of Largs in support of Alexaner III and further fought against the English in the Battle of Dunbar, where there chief was later captured and as a result he later supported Robert the Bruce and fighting in the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314.
