HISTORY
The MacKay clan is thought to originate from a member of the ancient Celtic royal house around the 12th and 13th century. The MacKays were a powerful and strong military family, and at one point held the lands of Strathnaver in the far north of Scotland. The clan suffered greatly in the Highland clearances and this land transferring to the Sutherland clan.
The MacKay Hunting tartan contains blue and grey with black.
